The Gruta do Carvão is a geological formation of Portuguese volcanic origin located in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores. More specifically, it is a lava tube and a Natural Monument measuring 1912 meters and consisting of 4 sections (Paim, Secadores de Tobacco, João do Rego and José Bensaúde), with only the Paim section open to the public for visitation.
The Gorreana Tea Factory is located in the place of Gorreana, parish of Maia, municipality of Ribeira Grande, island of São Miguel, Azores.
Some scholars maintain that Camellia sinensis, a plant that is at the origin of green tea and black tea, was introduced in the Azores, namely in São Miguel, in 1750, transported by ships returning from the East. It is also known of its cultivation on Terceira Island, from where a departure was sent to Lisbon in 1801.
