Museu Carlos Machado

The Carlos Machado Regional Museum is located in the city of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel (Azores), being the oldest museum in the archipelago, the result of the development of the old Azorean Museum, founded in 1876 by professor and naturalist Carlos Maria Gomes Machado .

It is currently one of the regional museums under the administration of the Government of the Azores, with a valuable collection that includes ethnographic, Natural History (botany and zoology), sculpture and painting collections.

Among the latter, the works of the sculptor Canto da Maia and the painters Duarte Maia, Marciano Henriques da Silva, Raimundo Machado da Luz and Domingos Rebelo stand out.
